Recently, Premier Inc, a leading US healthcare company, invited Bridge to team on the design and facilitation of a 3-day accelerated design session. The objectives of the session were to explore new care delivery models for the US, associated payment models to support these delivery models, and to establish the framework for an on-going collaborative focused on healthcare reform. The 60+ participant group consisted of hospital system CEOs, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Medical Officers and leading physicians, representatives from insurance/payer organisations and public policy experts. In addition, the Premier Inc. executive leadership team, including the CEO and all business unit leaders, was in attendance. Utilising accelerated design techniques in a customised environment, Premier achieve outstanding results in a short period of time. Key outcomes of the session included: Initial design concepts for prototype care delivery models and supporting payment models, the charter for the on-going collaborative and a participant endorsed commitment statement. As the healthcare reform debate continues in the United States, leading organizations like Premier and their 2000+ Alliance Hospitals are being proactive at designing the care delivery model for the future.
